Spring Car Check Checklist: Get Your Vehicle Ready for the Season

April 20th, 2026 by

Winter can be rough on your car. Between cold starts, potholes, and all that road salt, your vehicle takes a bit of a beating this time of year. Now that Spring is officially here, it’s a good time to give it a quick check and make sure everything’s still in good shape. Nothing crazy – just a few simple things that can help you avoid bigger problems down the road. Here’s what we recommend taking a look at:

Check and Change Your Oil

If it’s been a while, start here. Fresh oil keeps everything running smoothly and helps prevent wear on your engine. It’s one of the easiest ways to keep your car happy.

Tires

Winter roads aren’t exactly tire-friendly. Take a quick look:

  • Are they wearing evenly?
  • Do they still have good tread?
  • Is the pressure where it should be?

A rotation is usually a good idea this time of year too. It helps them last longer.

Battery

Cold weather can drain your battery more than you’d think. If your car’s been slow to start lately (or your battery’s getting older), it’s worth having it checked before it leaves you stuck somewhere.

Brakes

Your brakes are one of the most important safety features on your vehicle. Listen for:

  • Squeaking or grinding noises
  • Vibrations when braking
  • Longer stopping distances

If you notice anything unusual, it’s best to have them inspected right away. Brakes are one of those things you definitely don’t want to put off.

Wipers & Fluids

Spring = rain, so visibility matters.

If your wipers are streaking or squeaking, swap them out. And while you’re at it, top off your washer fluid and check your other fluids too.

Alignment & Suspension

Potholes and rough winter roads can knock your alignment out of place. Signs you may need an alignment:

  • Vehicle pulling to one side
  • Uneven tire wear
  • Steering wheel not centered

Fixing alignment early helps prevent premature tire wear.

Air Filter

It’s a small thing, but it matters. A clean air filter helps your engine breathe better and can even help with fuel efficiency.

None of this is complicated, but it makes a big difference. Taking care of a few small things now can save you time, money, and stress later on. And if you’re not sure where your car stands, that’s what we’re here for.

If it’s been a while, schedule a quick service – We’ll take a look and help you stay ahead of anything that could turn into a bigger issue.
